PROSECCO, White grape used in a Sparkling wine comes from the Veneto region, best comes from Conegliano Valdobbiadene 35miles north of Venice DOCG.
CHARDONNAY- Planted all over Italy, from Sicily to Friuli. Great results in Friuli. Used in the making of Methode Champenois.
SOAVE- (Veneto) DOC One of Italy’s best and most enjoyable whites. Gargenega and Trebbiano grown on hillsides from single vineyards produce wines of depth and flavor.
GRECO DI TUFO, (Campania),DOC Brought by the ancient Greeks, Fleshy, pale straw with overtones of hazelnuts and mineral qualities. Lovely nose and mouth feel.
FALANGHINA, (Campania)DOC Med body, dry between Greco and Fiano, Grown in Northern Campania.
VERDICCHIO Classico dei Castelli di Jesi (Marche) DOC
From hillside low yield, vineyards this is dry, well balanced and elegant, (Chablis like) Golden in color, rich in texture. Aged in oak for 4 mos (Riserva 2yr’s).
PINOT GRIGIO, TOCAI, SAUVIGNON*** PINOT BIANCO (Friuli) DOC These varietals grow best in the northeast, Friuli, Venezia, Giulia region also in Trentino. Italy’s best white wines.
RIESLING (Friuli) IGT Italico (Italian) and Rhine Riesling. Rhine is the better of the two.
RIBBOLA GIALLA (Friuli)IGT Indigenous to Friuli. Crisp, with a lovely finish.
VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO- (Toscana) DOCG The magic land of Tuscany produces a white grape that is as lovely in style as it’s red counter part. Regular Vernaccia is light, golden, crisp and refreshing.
VERMENTINO- (Sardegna) DOC Found on the Italian Rivera and in Sardegna. Full flavored, dry and delicious.
PECORINO (Marche, DOC & Abruzzi, IGT) It is a fresh fragrant white of great finesse. A great summertime white!
